Mortality rates to be used for a non-binary person
The following instructions concern the calculation of a pension amount or of the value of the benefits accrued under a supplemental pension plan or a voluntary retirement savings plan when the designation of sex of a member is non‑binary (X).
Where the designation of non‑binary (X) appears on an official document issued by the Directeur de l’état civil, Retraite Québec expects the calculation of a pension amount or of the value of accrued benefits that requires the use of a mortality table to be based on the mortality rates of men and women, combined in equal shares.
These instructions concern situations to which the sections mentioned in the legal references apply.
