Enter the number of days of your periods of absence in this section if one of the following situations applies to you:

  • You do not know the dates of your periods of absence without pay.
  • Your periods of absence did not end in the current or previous year.
  • Your days of absence that can be bought back are shown on your Statement of Participation by year of service.

Type of absence

Select « absence without pay », « parental leave or compassionate care leave ».
Parental leaves or compassionate care leaves are:

  • a maternity, paternity or adoption leave, that were in progress on 1 January 1991 or that began after that date.
  • compassionate care leaves that were in progress on 1 January 2012 or that began after that date.

If the « parental or compassionate care leaves » ended before the dates mentioned above, select « absence without pay ».

A period of absence can be considered an absence without pay provided all the following conditions are met:

  • It must be provided for in your conditions of employment.
  • It must be authorized by your employer, except for a period of absence resulting from a strike, a lockout or a disciplinary suspension.
  • You must not have received any remuneration during the period in question.
  • You would or could have worked had it not been for the absence.

Teaching in the public sector (primary or secondary school)
