Contest: I am planning my future!
Rules

1. Contest

In partnership with the Institut québécois de planification financière (IQPF), Retraite Québec is organizing a contest on financial planning for retirement.

The contest is intended to encourage young workers aged 18 to 34 to improve their knowledge regarding financial planning for retirement and to take small steps to save.

2. Deadline for participation

The contest runs from 2 October 2023 to 5 November 2023 at 11:59 pm.

3. Prize

The IQPF will award a prize consisting of two cash amounts:

  • $2500 in financial planning services;
  • $2500 to invest.

The IQPF will provide a list of the names of specialists from which the winner may choose. The IQPF will pay professional fees of up to $2500.

The amount of $2500 can be invested in a TFSA, an RRSP or another. The winner will be advised by a specialist on the savings vehicle of his or her choice. However, the winner is under no obligation to follow the recommendation.

Only one person can win this prize.

The prize cannot be exchanged for other prizes, nor can it be transferred to another person.

4. Eligible persons

To participate, a person must:

  • live in Québec;
  • be between the ages of 18 and 34;
  • answer the three questions on financial planning and complete the contest entry form.

Exclusions: Employees of Retraite Québec and the IQPF and their immediate family (spouse, children, mother, father, brothers or sisters) are not eligible to enter the contest.

5. Number of entries

The number of entries is limited to one per person. The use of robots and computerized processes to multiply the number of entries is prohibited.

Entries that do not comply with these conditions will be withdrawn prior to the draw.

6. Place, date and time of the draw

The draw will take place on Friday, 24 November 2023 at 10:00 a.m. in Retraite Québec's offices in Québec. The winner will be determined at random by a computerized process.

To ensure transparency, the draw and awarding of the prize will take place in the presence of at least three Retraite Québec witnesses. In addition, Retraite Québec will keep minutes of the draw and awarding of the prize.

7. Method used to contact the winner and the conditions for awarding the prize

The winner will be contacted by telephone no later than 15 December 2023.

If that person cannot be reached within seven business days, we will proceed with a new draw until we find a winner.

The person must declare that he or she is not a member of the immediate family of any of our staff members.

8. Awarding the prize

The IQPF will present the award:

  • The winner will be asked to complete a form providing his or her contact information and the information to make the deposit (name and address of the financial institution, name of the person to contact and account number). A cheque for $2500 will then be forwarded to the financial institution for deposit into the account specified by the winner.
  • The IQPF will pay the fees of the professional providing the financial planning service, up to a maximum of $2500. Once this limit has been reached, he or she must inform the winner, who can decide whether to continue the process by paying out-of-pocket or to stop it.

9. Respecting personal information

The only personal information we will publish about the winner is his or her name.

10. Settling disagreements

Any disagreement concerning the organization, the conduct of the contest or the awarding of the prize will be settled definitely by an arbiter, excluding the courts.

Any disagreement must be submitted to us within 60 days following the end of the contest.

11. Organizers' rights

We may postpone, cancel or interrupt the contest in the event of unforeseen difficulties.

We may disqualify any person for serious reasons, particularly if they disrupt the running of the contest or violate its rules.
