As of 1 July, bereaved parents will receive Family Allowance and the supplements for handicapped children, if applicable, for an additional period of 12 months following the month of the death or, if the child was age 17, until he or she would have reached age 18. This measure was announced in the Gouvernement du Québec's 2025-2026 Budget Speech.
If your child died in Québec, please note that the Directeur de l'état civil will inform us. Therefore, no further action is required from you. However, if the death occurred outside Québec, please call us to inform us.
