Legislative amendments to the Pension Plan of Management Personnel (PPMP)

Amendments to your pension plan

The Act respecting the Pension Plan of Management Personnel (PPMP) was amended after the Act to amend various legislative provisions concerning mainly bodies in the field of public safety was assented to on 11 December 2020.

The amendment to the PPMP concerns the addition of certain classes of employees from the Bureau des enquêtes indépendantes and from the Anti-Corruption Commissioner to the list of persons covered by the pension plan.

New positions under the RRPE

Affected plan: PPMP

Effective date: 11 December 2020

The new positions under the PPMP are those of:

  • investigation coordinators, investigation supervisors and investigators from the Bureau des enquêtes indépendantes
  • chief inspectors, inspectors, captains, lieutenants, sergeants, corporals and Anti-Corruption Commissioner's agents.

Membership in the PPMP is mandatory for the persons who hold those positions and the normal terms of the plan apply to them.

Before the coming into force of the Act to amend various legislative provisions concerning mainly bodies in the field of public safety, investigation supervisors and investigators from the Bureau des enquêtes indépendantes were appointed pursuant to an order of the Government. Those persons were plan members only if their appointment order so provided. Since the coming into force of those amendments on 11 December 2020,

  • if the person was a member of the PPMP, he or she continues his or her plan membership, his or her qualification is maintained and his or her additional 60-month membership period remains considered to be completed
  • if the person was not a member of the PPMP, his or her plan membership and his or her qualification period begin as of 11 December 2020.
